Vensamaram (also known as Chamara or Chowrie). It’s a traditional fly-whisk made from soft white yak tail hair, attached to a decorated handle, usually silver or brass.

About Vensamaram:

  • In Hindu temples, it is waved before the deity as a mark of respect, service (seva), and royal honor.

  • It symbolizes purity, devotion, and the act of offering the best comfort to the deity during rituals.

  • It is often used in special poojas, abhishekams, and temple processions, especially during Vaibhava Sevas like Deeparadhanai or Utsavams.

  • Vensamaram is also associated with spiritual royalty – just like kings were honored with fans and whisks, deities are served with the same devotion.

  • Represents air and movement, one of the five natural elements offered to God (pancha upacharas).

  • In Puranas and temple rituals, it is considered a symbol of royalty, purity, and divine service.

📿 In many temples of Lord Vishnu, Shiva, Murugan, and Devi, two Vensamarams are often waved simultaneously, creating a majestic sight during Arathi.

At Sri Swaminathan & Co, each Vensamaram is crafted with love and fidelity to tradition—perfect for daily worship, grand festivals, or heartfelt offerings of faith
