Kumbakonam’s Finest — A Living Temple in Your Home

Elevate your home rituals with this premium, heavy-weight Ashtalakshmi Brass Kalash handcrafted by Sri Swaminathan & Co. in the heritage town of Kumbakonam. Forged from 100% pure solid brass, this sacred water pot features exquisite high-relief 3D carvings of the eight divine manifestations of Goddess Lakshmi, framed by traditional floral creepers and a rope-twist shoulder band drawn directly from the gopuram design language of Kumbakonam’s ancient temples.

The ancient Agama Shastra prescribes the Kalash as a micro-cosmic representation of the entire universe — its round body the earth, its neck the atmosphere, its flared rim the heavens.

  • ✦ 100% pure heavy solid brass — Kumbakonam traditional casting
  • ✦ High-relief 3D Ashtalakshmi carvings on outer wall
  • ✦ Rope-twist shoulder band — temple gopuram design language
  • ✦ Handcrafted by Sri Swaminathan & Co., Kumbakonam

The Sacred Myth — Amrit, Samudra Manthan & the Eight Lakshmis

The Bhagavata Purana describes the legendary Samudra Manthan — the churning of the cosmic milk ocean — during which Lord Dhanvantari emerged holding a divine pot filled with Amrit (the nectar of immortality), followed by Goddess Lakshmi herself, seated on a fully bloomed lotus. The Kalash is the direct physical embodiment of that cosmic vessel of Amrit.

The outer walls depict all eight forms of the Ashtalakshmi: Adi Lakshmi (spiritual peace) — Dhana Lakshmi (financial stability) — Dhanya Lakshmi (nourishment) — Gaja Lakshmi (royal grace) — Santana Lakshmi (family harmony) — Dhairya Lakshmi (courage) — Vijaya Lakshmi (victory) — Vidya Lakshmi (wisdom). Together they form an energetic shield that balances Vastu defects and dissolves financial blocks.

  • ✦ Kalash = cosmic vessel of Amrit — Bhagavata Purana
  • ✦ All 8 Ashtalakshmi forms in 3D relief
  • ✦ Balances Vastu Dosha & dissolves financial blocks
  • ✦ Invites holistic wealth across all 8 dimensions of life

Craftsmanship Detail — Every Millimetre Tells a Story

The base of this Kalash is a masterclass in traditional South Indian brass casting. The Mahalakshmi arch panel at the centre is flanked by Lakshmi medallions on either side, all set within a dense bed of hand-engraved floral creepers. Above the deity band runs a lotus petal band — the sacred flower of Lakshmi — and above that, the signature rope-twist shoulder band that marks authentic Kumbakonam craftsmanship.

Each 3D Lakshmi idol stands 3 cm tall — fully sculpted in the round, not flat-pressed — with crown, jewellery, and mudra details visible to the naked eye.

  • ✦ Mahalakshmi arch panel — centred, fully sculpted 3D
  • ✦ Lotus petal band above deity zone
  • ✦ Dense hand-engraved floral creeper background
  • ✦ Each Lakshmi idol: 3 cm tall, fully round-sculpted
