Simhasana Ganapati Gold Idol Side View Royal Throne Prabhavali

The Emperor of the Cosmos

According to the Mudgala Purana — the scripture dedicated entirely to Lord Ganesha — when he is seated upon a Sinhasan (royal throne) flanked by elephant guardians, he takes the form of Simhasana Ganapati.

In this form, he does not sit as a calm yogi. He sits as the Brahmanda Nayaka — the Supreme Ruler of the Cosmos — who has taken upon himself the burden of governing the universe so his devotees may live in peace.

He embodies Shristi — the power of creation and sustenance.

A King Dressed in Gold

The idol is crowned by a grand Prabhavali arch with a Kirtimukha — the lion face of divine protection — at its peak. Two elephant guardians flank the throne base, echoing the Chola temple tradition of Gaja Dvarapalas.

His four arms carry the Ankusa (goad), Pasha (noose), Modaka, and the Abhaya mudra — each a sovereign's instrument. The brilliant gold finish reflects the royal robes described in the Puranas.

Mushika, the divine mouse, rests faithfully at the base.
