Sri Swaminathan & Co · Authentic Quality

— Traditional South Indian Annapakshi Oil Lamp with Adjustable Base —

Fine Quality Strong Brass · Fully Detachable 3-Piece Design · 19.5 cm Height (7.7 Inch)

If you have a small home mandir and want a traditional kuthu vilakku that is easy to light and clean every single day, you will absolutely love this smart piece. Hand-designed right here in Kumbakonam, this Brass Annapakshi Altar Kuthu Vilakku combines a beautifully carved divine swan finial with a practical, fully adjustable body layout.

This is a premium-quality, heavy-gauge traditional oil lamp built with a stunning combination of rich antique shadow lines and a high-gloss golden finish. It features a completely smart, screw-apart structure that lets you adjust the height to fit perfectly inside smaller altars while making your weekly maintenance incredibly quick and easy.

A Quick Note on Our Product Photos — To show you exactly how versatile this beautiful piece is, we have placed two lamps in the single frame. Please note that both items are the exact same product — one is shown standing tall at its full height, while the other is taken apart to show how easily it adjusts. All prices and size specifications listed are strictly for a single piece, giving you the freedom to choose the exact quantity you need for your space.

Why This Adjustable Vilakku Deserves a Special Place in Your Home
  • Smart Fully Detachable Design — The entire lamp cleanly twists apart into three separate pieces — the top Annapakshi bird finial, the middle grooved pillar stem, and the bottom star-wick oil basin. This screw-apart layout gives you the perfect freedom to use it as a short, low-profile lamp for compact shelves, or assemble it fully to stand tall.
  • Incredibly Easy to Wash and Light — Because you can dismantle the pieces completely in seconds, you can wash out sticky soot and leftover oils cleanly from every corner without any hassle. No harsh chemical liquids are needed; a simple scrub keeps it neat and fresh.
  • Perfect for Small Altar Layouts — Sitting at a neat 19.5 cm height when fully assembled, it is specifically tailored to sit elegantly on small apartment temple shelves, office counters, or study corners without taking up too much room space.
  • 40 ml Multi-Wick Oil Basin — The wide 7.5 cm oil basin comfortably holds up to 40 ml of oil or ghee. The star-notched rim design lets you arrange multiple cotton wicks easily, creating a steady, beautiful, and long-lasting bright flame that fills your evening family prayers with peace.

Material, Quality & Craftsmanship
  • Premium Heavy-Gauge Solid Brass — Cast from thick, pure brass metal right here in our workshops. The single compact lamp carries a highly substantial, heavy feel in the hand, weighing approximately 700 grams for its size. It is completely unbreakable and built to last for generations.
  • Stunning Two-Tone Finish — Deep antique shading is safely locked inside the fine wing lines and base grooves, while the smooth outer curves feature a high-gloss polish that catches ambient room light beautifully.
  • Perfect Practical Dimensions — Structured with a 19.5 cm total height, a wide 7.5 cm oil basin diameter, and a steady 7 cm base diameter that grounds the structure firmly so it never sways or tips over.

A Meaningful Traditional Gift for Special Milestones
  • Daily Home Pooja & Meditation Rooms — A pristine, raw brass icon made perfectly for your daily morning prayers, offering light to the deities, or keeping a peaceful flame during meditation.
  • Housewarmings & Wedding Return Gifts — An exceptional, highly respectable traditional choice for wedding return gifts, housewarmings, or Navratri Golu return gifts to wish your loved ones a strong, blessed start filled with luck.
  • Safe Worldwide Suitcase Packing — Because the lamp breaks down into three small flat pieces, it packs incredibly tight and safe inside your travel bags or international postal courier mailing boxes without any risk of bending or breaking.

Care & Washing Instructions

Because this solid piece features an intentional antique finish with glossy highlights, it requires very simple care to look pristine:

  • Dismantle and Wash — Twist the pieces apart. Gently wash the oil basin and finial using your regular dish soap and a soft sponge. Never use steel wool or harsh wire scrubbers, as they will scratch the fine carvings.
  • Restoring the Golden Glow — Rub a small amount of fresh tamarind paste or fresh lemon juice mixed with fine salt over the inner and outer surface. The natural fruit acid will instantly dissolve dark soot spots and bring back the rich golden look.
  • Wipe Completely Dry — Always wipe the brass pieces completely dry with a soft towel immediately after rinsing before screwing them back together, so that trapped water drops do not leave spots inside the thread lines.

Care & Maintenance

Made from super fine quality brass with a golden powder coated polish — gives a satin gold glow like a gold statue. Purely for decor and dry display. If used for pooja rituals, the golden polish layer will peel off over time. Keep it dry — and it will look as fresh as the day you bought it. Always.

No restrictions for pooja rituals. Avoid harsh chemicals to preserve its traditional antique look. The dark patina is intentional — it deepens the beauty over time.

Powerful. Preferred for active pooja rituals — no restrictions. Traditional Cleaning Method: Use dara liquid and cashew nut seeds — an ancient method used by temple priests for generations. Gently rub with cashew nut seeds dipped in dara liquid. Rinse clean. Your idol will look brand new. Cleaning once every 30 days is recommended if used regularly for pooja.

Frequently Asked Questions

We understand this completely. You are buying online from a shop you have never visited. Here is the truth: Sri Swaminathan & Co has been standing at 61, Bakthapuri Street, Kumbakonam since 1973 — over 53 years. We are not a warehouse or a reseller. We are a family shop, rooted in Kumbakonam, where priests, temples, and devotees from across Tamil Nadu have been coming for generations. Travellers from Singapore, Malaysia, UK, and USA visit us when they come to Kumbakonam — because they know us. You can walk into our shop any day. We are real.
Because most sites sell products. We sell legacy. Every item in our shop — whether it is a small brass lamp or a 4-foot Panchaloha idol — comes from craftsmen whose families have been doing this since the Chola period. We do not source from factories. We do not compromise on material or finish to reduce price. When you buy from us, you are not just getting a product — you are getting 53 years of trust, traditional craftsmanship, and the assurance that what you receive is exactly what a devotee deserves.
This is a fair concern and we respect it. Here is why we do not offer COD — our products are handcrafted, fragile, and carefully packed for safe delivery. COD returns damage both the product and the trust. Instead, we offer something better: WhatsApp us before you order. We will send you a video of the actual product — the exact piece you will receive. You can ask us anything. Only when you are fully satisfied, you pay. Our 53-year reputation is our guarantee — we cannot afford to let even one customer down.
Not at all — and we are glad you asked this. Our products are made of brass and Panchaloha — metals that naturally catch and reflect light from every angle. What you see as dark shades or bright reflections in photos is simply the metal doing what metal does — glowing, reflecting, and shining. We photograph every product as-is, with no filters, no AI, no editing. That reflection you see in the photo? You will see the same beautiful glow when it sits in your pooja room. It is not a defect — it is the character of real metal.
Yes — and here is why we say this with full confidence. Panchaloha idols require the right alloy, the right casting method, and the right finishing — done by craftsmen who understand the spiritual significance of what they are making. Our Panchaloha idols are hand-cast in Kumbakonam and Swamimalai by hereditary artisans using the traditional lost-wax method — the same method used to make idols for consecrated temples across South India. Priests trust our idols for temple installation. Families trust us for home pooja rooms. In 53 years, that trust has never been broken.
