— Temple-Grade Heavy Brass Hanging Deepam for Grand Altar Decor —

Pure Handmade Kumbakonam Brass · Unique Everlasting Nagas Design · 3 Multi-Size Selection

If you want a truly magnificent, temple-grade chain lamp that instantly transforms your home prayer altar into a grand spiritual space, this is our signature collection. Hand-crafted right here in the historic metalwork hub of Kumbakonam, this Architectural Hanging Brass Lamp (Thooku Vilakku) is made purely by hand and features an exceptionally heavy build with our unique, everlasting Nagas (traditional artwork) styling.

This is not the same mass-produced thin metal fixture you find elsewhere. While you might find look-alikes online, our signature collection features deep, crisp casting lines, thick solid brass walls, and a completely unbreakable frame built to serve your family or temple shrines for generations.

Why This Signature Hanging Lamp Deserves a Special Place in Your Home
  • Grand Temple Altar Appearance — Designed using grand South Indian temple proportions, this heavy chain lamp creates an immediate sense of royal divinity. Hanging it at your main entrance walkway, central prayer hall, or temple sanctum instantly elevates the entire architectural layout with timeless heritage charm.
  • Intricate Everlasting Nagas Work — If you watch the design closely, you will see a breathtaking array of crisp, deep traditional patterns running along the pillar stem and the wide, four-cornered squared base tray. This unique Nagas styling hides subtle antique contrasts that make the golden surfaces look incredibly beautiful under an active flame.
  • Available in Three Unique Design Styles — To perfectly match your specific home layout or spiritual intent, you can search our website to find this exact heavy series in three separate design variations:
    • Annapakshi Mode — Crowned with a beautiful, majestic divine swan finial on top.
    • Sangu Chakra Mode — Decorated with the sacred Conch and Divine Discus symbols of Lord Vishnu.
    • Plain Mode — A sleek, minimalist classic temple design that highlights the pure, high-gloss brass metal.

Material, Quality & Craftsmanship
  • Pure Handmade Kumbakonam Special Brass — Poured and finished completely by hand as thick, 100% genuine solid brass metal right in our signature foundry workshops. The sizing range spans from a solid 880 grams (Size No.4) up to a massive, incredibly heavy 2.650 kg (Size No.8). It is completely unbreakable and handles high heat effortlessly.
  • Weight-Matched Custom Thick Chains — To guarantee absolute household safety, we provide custom-thickness brass chains built to perfectly match the massive weight of each lamp size. The heavier the lamp you choose, the thicker and stronger your solid link chain and S-hook grip will be.
  • Generous Oil Reservoirs — Calibrated with extra-deep oil basins that safely hold from 50 ml up to a massive 250 ml of oil or ghee, allowing thick cotton wicks to burn brightly for long hours during festive nights without drying up.

Simple Cleaning & Wash Instructions to Get Back Its New Look

Because this is pure handmade brass, it naturally darkens over time from heat, oil, and the atmosphere. This is completely normal and shows the absolute purity of the metal. No harsh chemical sprays or complex modern polishes are needed. To easily clean the lamp and bring back its brilliant, sparkling new look, use these simple traditional household items:

  • The Cleaning Powder — Wash the lamp body using Sabeena cleaning powder with a soft sponge to instantly clear away sticky oil residue and grey soot after your prayers.
  • Bringing Back the Golden Glow — Rub a small amount of fresh tamarind paste, fresh lemon juice, or traditional vibhuti/brass ash mixed with a pinch of salt over the inner and outer metal surfaces. The natural fruit acids and fine ash scrub away dark oxidation spots in seconds.
  • The Final Rinse & Dry — Rinse the lamp thoroughly with clean water. Always wipe the brass pieces completely dry with a soft towel immediately after washing so that trapped water drops do not leave uneven spots on the polished Nagas details.

Care & Maintenance

Made from super fine quality brass with a golden powder coated polish — gives a satin gold glow like a gold statue. Purely for decor and dry display. If used for pooja rituals, the golden polish layer will peel off over time. Keep it dry — and it will look as fresh as the day you bought it. Always.

No restrictions for pooja rituals. Avoid harsh chemicals to preserve its traditional antique look. The dark patina is intentional — it deepens the beauty over time.

Powerful. Preferred for active pooja rituals — no restrictions. Traditional Cleaning Method: Use dara liquid and cashew nut seeds — an ancient method used by temple priests for generations. Gently rub with cashew nut seeds dipped in dara liquid. Rinse clean. Your idol will look brand new. Cleaning once every 30 days is recommended if used regularly for pooja.

Frequently Asked Questions

We understand this completely. You are buying online from a shop you have never visited. Here is the truth: Sri Swaminathan & Co has been standing at 61, Bakthapuri Street, Kumbakonam since 1973 — over 53 years. We are not a warehouse or a reseller. We are a family shop, rooted in Kumbakonam, where priests, temples, and devotees from across Tamil Nadu have been coming for generations. Travellers from Singapore, Malaysia, UK, and USA visit us when they come to Kumbakonam — because they know us. You can walk into our shop any day. We are real.
Because most sites sell products. We sell legacy. Every item in our shop — whether it is a small brass lamp or a 4-foot Panchaloha idol — comes from craftsmen whose families have been doing this since the Chola period. We do not source from factories. We do not compromise on material or finish to reduce price. When you buy from us, you are not just getting a product — you are getting 53 years of trust, traditional craftsmanship, and the assurance that what you receive is exactly what a devotee deserves.
This is a fair concern and we respect it. Here is why we do not offer COD — our products are handcrafted, fragile, and carefully packed for safe delivery. COD returns damage both the product and the trust. Instead, we offer something better: WhatsApp us before you order. We will send you a video of the actual product — the exact piece you will receive. You can ask us anything. Only when you are fully satisfied, you pay. Our 53-year reputation is our guarantee — we cannot afford to let even one customer down.
Not at all — and we are glad you asked this. Our products are made of brass and Panchaloha — metals that naturally catch and reflect light from every angle. What you see as dark shades or bright reflections in photos is simply the metal doing what metal does — glowing, reflecting, and shining. We photograph every product as-is, with no filters, no AI, no editing. That reflection you see in the photo? You will see the same beautiful glow when it sits in your pooja room. It is not a defect — it is the character of real metal.
Yes — and here is why we say this with full confidence. Panchaloha idols require the right alloy, the right casting method, and the right finishing — done by craftsmen who understand the spiritual significance of what they are making. Our Panchaloha idols are hand-cast in Kumbakonam and Swamimalai by hereditary artisans using the traditional lost-wax method — the same method used to make idols for consecrated temples across South India. Priests trust our idols for temple installation. Families trust us for home pooja rooms. In 53 years, that trust has never been broken.
